Lough Ash Wedge Tomb

Featuring in “The Journey In Time” historical and archaelogical tour of the Sperrin and Foyle regions, this megalithic, wedge-shaped tomb is situated off the B48, near Lough Ash, and midway between the villages of Dunamanagh and Plumbridge.
Dating from around 4,000 to 4,500 years, the whole chamber would have originally been roofed with capstones, however only one now remains in place.The entrance which faces west has a double portal arrangement leading to a single burial chamber.On excavation, cremated bone, representing perhaps three individuals were recorded along with a number of other artefacts.
